Sylf here.
This may come to a surprise to many people (hell, even I'm still kinda shocked by it), but... I'm sick of being a Hume! ;_; I love being a Black Mage, but I've kinda wanted to be an Elvaan for a long time...
Remember waaaaaaaay back when we did the very first CTY/FI Mission 9 run in the tower? I remember that I came along to help everyone, and I was in Caboose and Nyiri's party. I'm pretty sure that's where the Elf thing started up, with Boose in his Iron Musketeer's Armour. I can't say I've seen a cooler looking character since then... and when I thought "Hey! It'll look just as cool on me!" and actually saw it on another Hume... it didn't. In fact, I was kinda disappointed.
After getting Benedict as an assistant a long time ago, I found out just how many cool little details are added in for Elvaan males, like the fluttering armour when casting spells, the way they use a bow (just like me, in real life! ^^), even tapping their toe while fishing. It all seems so stylish and cool... and here I am with my Hume BLM that's rather... dull.
The three classes I've wanted to play and max out to 75 are Black Mage, Paladin, and Ranger - oddly enough, two of these three are possibly the worst choices for an Elvaan. I dunno, though... I've always kinda had a soft spot for the underdog who pulls through in the end. Recently I made an Elf Paladin (also named Benedict) in my D&D campaign with the qualities that are the *exact opposite* of every other Elf in the D&D world, and I grew completely attached to him. It makes certain things harder that shouldn't be, but... well, I can't say why I like it so much. That's kind of how I feel about starting up all over again as an Elvaan.
So you'll all probably be seeing a lot of Benedict on the shell (he just got a linkpearl today) and possibly a lot less of Sylf. Or who knows - this might all blow over and I'll be levelling Sylf again (I'm playing on Sylf for our static, still ^^). So if you see "Benedict" in the chat log and have no clue who that is... it's little ol' me, killing mandragoras and rarabs again and enjoying it even more than the first time.
See ya all on the shell - you're all what keep me coming back for more, even when I decide to start (almost) completely from scratch again. ^^
~Sylf Alessar > Hm, I agree with you... and ironically, Benedict and Aeric are identical twins. ~_^ (09/27 05:55) Beanie > [cheers Benedict on!] (09/27 10:54) Thistle > Is there anything Boose doesn't look good in? ;) (09/27 13:51) Nimbex > Rarabs! (My first two characters were Hume too >.> and I remember getting flak from people because I decided at level *7* to start over as an Elvaan ^^) (09/27 15:23) Basyx > Good luck on your great adventure, SylfnowBenedict! You are remembering that this is a life meant to be enjoyed! (09/27 15:39) hjshvc > XfdyqEtm (09/08/07 09:24)
