Last week, me and my sister went with two of her friends to go grab some Carbuncle Mittens from a Tonberry. On the way up through the Temple of Uggah-Wuggah-Ding-Dong, we bumped into a Japanese PUP who was interested in helping us. Once we cleared the room of all the other mobs, we mauled the Tonberry NM and she got her mittens.

Over the past few days, it seems she's been plowing through the avatar fights - she only needs Fenrir, Diabolos, Alexander, and Odin now. I've also been assisting another of her friends with some of the WotG Missions I've already done with CTY since he seems to have gotten stuck on some of the Bastok ones....I'm hoping to have him caught up soon.

Just wanted to mention that since the finishing of Windurst 9-2, I've not really been doing much - even then, I was really only logging on for Saturday and Sunday. For the past month, I've been seriously considering moving over to Asura where my sister Yunami and her friends are currently located so as to have something more to do during the week (those guys are online almost 24/7 partying and running stuff that I need/will be needing soon).

While I don't exactly have any issues with Quetz, merging with it has kind of given me the kick in the pants I need to evaluate my current situation. Thus, as World transfer is currently down with all of the maintenance going on, I just wanted to give a heads-up in case I do move over when I becomes available again - I've not officially decided yet if that is indeed what I want to do....

======

So, I moved over. WOW! There are so many people (yay Bastok is in 1st!) - I used to see only about 20 people in Bastok [S] on a good day.....now there is about 60. There were actually Campaign Unions of 30 and 20 people - it is VERY awesome to see Camp. Battles play the way they were seemingly intended as opposed to 4 people whacking a few turtles for 20 minutes only to die when the NM shows up.
Negata > You're welcome! Love, Team Bastok Defectors. (10/03/24 19:16)
Fait > Quite. (10/03/25 03:21)
Kireila > Hope your new friends will enjoy hand-holding you through missions as much as we did! <3 (Not.) (10/03/25 11:27)
Demandred > Glad to hear you are enjoying the other server - good luck! (10/03/25 23:05)
Cealia > love your face, don't forget us :) (10/03/26 14:25)
Cealia > love your face, don't forget us :) (10/03/26 14:26)
Negata > So nice, she said it twice! (10/03/26 19:28)
Cealia > it kept giving me errors :( (10/03/27 03:17)
Ennui > Lol...thanks. I'd bet there'd probably be at least one other server merge in the future, so I'd imagine the "move" to Asura won't be entirely permanent. It was anabsolute blast running all of the Nation Missions, and I still have a Judgement Key I can use to assist everyone once they pass 5-2 (should be running it in a week if all goes well). (10/03/27 10:39)

It is nice to be back in Bastok....

Good news - it seems my THF idea went over well, and I'm now the proud owner of a Brown Belt. Hopefully they let me move right on over to the Black Belt quest, as I want to try and get going with that ASAP.
Sivara > Keep in mind that most MNKs never get a Black Belt. The items drop off HNMs (and are timed/camped/dominated by HNM shells) and 18-person BCNMs. It's possible but not really likely, and it's a far cry from the Brown Belt quest. ^^; (10/03/01 22:39)
Demandred > Congratulations! It's a great belt to have (invaluable for /NIN utsu casting) and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Good luck if you do the Black Belt quest... I'm considering it unlikely at best for myself, though. (10/03/07 14:13)
Demandred > Now next on your list will be a pair of Destroyers, I'd imagine. I've noticed well my Critical Hit merits + the crit bonus from mine processing. Thankfully, most folks don't really want them when they drop from Royal Ramble. :) (10/03/07 14:21)

stuff
I'm getting ready to head out and grab that first item for 9-2 - sorry guys for missing Saturday (I full-on passed out and thought it was the 19th last night). Over the course of the week, I want to try and get through the Quicksand Cave thing too.

I just grabbed the Asuran Fists quest this morning, and I'll be attempting to remove the latent effect from the H2H weapon as I get the chance to. THF is almost 15 - once it hits, I'm going to try and get the last two Brown Belt items I need. Lastly, I've got enough Cooking Guild points for the pastry Key Item - wasn't sure if I should grab it, but the added cash I have as of late has been going towards synthing and the like.

Fait > Klaital and Negata still have to get through the door, so trying to arrange doing it with one of them would be a good idea. (10/02/22 12:33)
Demandred > Actually, I also need to open the portal. If you have one more character with you (Tarutatru, hume, whatever) then you will be able to pass through the door, so you only need to be able to snag one person to be done with QSC. As for Brown belt, having at least TH1 from /THF was a nice bit of insurance for getting the items, so I wish you luck. For GP items in cooking, talk with an experienced cook for tips before getting your item. (10/02/22 21:45)
Elizara > *is one* All the key items for cooking are worth it except stewpot mastery. (Stewpot mastery is JUNK; I don't think anyone wants AoE melee food!) (10/02/23 09:39)

Thanks to some very good help from Okamura, I've finally beaten Maat! (about 6 minutes with 66 HP remaining)

The second I see some good numbers, I'll be running some more Ops to give WAR the last little push it needs to hit 35, and I've also gotten myself up to Windy Mission 5-1.

I've still got the Oztroja key ready for the upcoming Windy Mission that uses it, I plan on attending the Dynamis-Jeuno with Scion on the 22nd, and I intend to finally get Black Coffin finished when Fait runs it shortly.

Remember - if anyone ever wants to run Assault, I still don't have a single point from it yet....I'd love to go!
Cydori > Congratulations on beating Maat! Now all that stands between you and 75 is... a lot of xp. ;p (09/12/17 10:55)
Ennui > Actually, if all goes in my favor, it shouldn't take too long. I'm on vacation for a few months now, so I want to try and get some of the major Missions and stuff out of the way. (09/12/17 15:02)
Demandred > Congratulations Ennui! Good luck on NM camping for your brown belt, now that you have the quest active; I think you should be able to solo all of the mobs. As for assault, most tend to be spur of the moment. For xp, just start putting a party together, and I'm sure some CTYers would like to join. :) (09/12/19 20:15)
Ennui > I had been, even found an NM two or three times, but the lack of THF has not been getting me anywhere. (09/12/26 11:52)
Nimbex > Just keep killing. The competition for the actual NM isn't that huge, so it just takes persistence. (09/12/28 09:54)
Klaital > Yeah, one of them is even a 100% drop! ...though it's also a 21-hour respawn. The other two are not bad to camp, but have lower drops. Keep at it, you'll get it! (09/12/28 23:22)

I'm quickly closing in on Monk lvl 70 - I should have it for sure by the weekend as well as WAR 33 if all goes my way. Assuming I can round up a party early tomorrow (1vs100 is on Xbox in the evening), I'll be doing some major Test-hunting as well to make use of the lvl-up. Also, the new WotG stuff is awesome, and I'll have to swing by Windurst to start up the new expansion soon.
Demandred > Have you had the ability to cap out your evasion or come close to it? I have a feeling that might help during the Maat fight, but I cannot say for certain. (09/12/06 10:15)
Demandred > Also, I mailed you some yagudo necklaces for Norg fame from a mule. Enjoy! (09/12/06 11:32)

I got the last Cobra Unit piece this morning and hit WAR 30. Hopefully I'll be able to grab another Monk Test over the course of the week.... Other than Dynamis, things have been rather slow as of late - we're still 0/2 on Dynamis Jeuno, so hopefully that will clear soon too.

I fought Maat this morning all geared up - the second my testimony hit the BC, I entered into Macro-Hell. I was doing fine at the start - mostly dodging his attacks completely, but he wound up using Spin Attack a few times faster than I could heal myself.

Ultimately what killed me - I....accidentally macro'ed a Hi-Potion instead of my Elixer stuff. (=_=)

Thankfully, I only really lost 4 Sleep Pots (have a whole stack still) - I moved back over to Oztroja for another Monk Testimony & found a JP player looking for a key - partied for a bit & got more skill points, but no paper dropped. Otherwise, I'm sitting outside the door with the 4 levers waiting for backup & will probably stay here until Sandy Rank 7 tonight.
Demandred > Sorry to hear the fight didn't go ask planned - good luck on your next round! (09/08/29 20:23)
Demandred > Is the macro issue that happened with the 2nd testimony the same that happened the first time? (09/09/08 19:56)
Ennui > Seems about right - I have the macro from the wiki page copied exactly (other things work using it), but it gave me "a command error occured". (09/09/09 10:37)
Kireila > if you're using a ja macro before an equip macro, you have to put a /wait # (where # = seconds) line in between them, or else it won't work. (09/09/09 10:50)
Kireila > of course, if your post were a little clearer, I'd actually know what you're trying to do, so take that as you will. (09/09/09 10:52)
Ennui > ^Note that the above journal entry mentions item macros being the issue^ - the next time I give Maat a go, I'm just going to have the item menu opened since it seems I cannot be 100% sure an item macro will work without blowing thousands of gil to test it. (09/09/10 09:12)
Kireila > You know you can test out item macros without consuming them; you can interrupt consuming items by moving around. or, if you're paranoid about using them by accident, test out some cheap 5 min food ingredient or something, and just replace the item with what you really want to use later on. but whatever works for you. (09/09/10 09:37)
Fait > Also, if you have the item menu open, NONE of your other macros will fire. You need to be just on the basic battle menu for them to work. (09/09/10 12:50)
Ennui > Oh snap - Fait, I think you might have hit the nail on the head. It is very possible I had the WS menu open to try and set up my next Howling Fist.... (09/09/11 22:42)
Demandred > Ahh, that has plagued me before. Of course, I have all my WSes on macro, so that might help you to keep from having that issue again (no need to be in menus, waiting to WS). (09/09/12 11:04)
Demandred > Good luck on your next testimony farming :) I got some nice skill ups last time we went. (09/09/13 00:07)
Nimbex > FF12 took a hit from its Japanese writers? Did it have non-Japanese writers? (09/09/23 16:13)
Ennui > I remember saying that, but I can't remember where I said it - FFXII had two JP writers as far as I know. I've played most games that both have worked on, and they were "okay" - FFXII has a lot of "political stuff" in it, and I do not think that the writers were equipped to handle it properly (the plot overall felt too forced among other things). To my surprise, the DS sequel (Revenant Wings), has actually been rather good up to where I'm at (start of Ch 2).....it has a different person doing the story though. (09/09/24 14:22)
Elizara > Ennui: I've been trying and trying to catch you, but if you can come on at 8 PM EST Monday, I can intro you to a friend who might be able to help you with Maat. He is only free though at specific times (he's married and has a kid) so you have to be on when he is or no catch that tail. ^^ (09/10/12 09:09)
Ennui > Ohnoes, I had tests to study for....that sucks. TY anyways Eli. ;_; (09/10/14 20:03)
Elizara > He wasn't there, so he should be there next week if you can make it ennui! (09/10/15 09:33)
Nimbex > It's sure complicated! I wonder what sort of help Ennui will get! (09/10/15 11:14)
Elizara > Don't worry Nimbex. The friend I have in mind is NOT in CTY but is a very good monk. (He also told me he's got enough pearls so not interested in yet another.) The thing is, since guy has a kid, he has limited playtime, so you have to catch him when he's on. ^^ (09/10/16 10:50)
Nimbex > Elizara: Don't worry; I'm not worried. I just don't see why you have to catch him when he's online, though. I'm clearly having a conversation with you without us catching each other. There's been 2 weeks that youv'e been trying to ararange this. With only 5 minutes a day, that would be enough time to have 14 pieces of dialogue from each person. That would do a lot toward this help. Unless it somehow requires FFXI to do this communication. (09/10/19 08:55)
Elizara > Yes it does require FFXI to get him unless you have a LJ account; he helped me with a Shadowlord back in the day. He's just hard to catch! (09/10/19 12:11)
Kireila > Shadowlord? Weren't we talking about Maat or something? (09/10/19 12:14)

Ooookay....um, just got back from my first Dynamis Bastok run with Treasa and her LS a short while ago. My new equips seem to have been a success, as they kept me alive (along with some awesome WHMs) straight through multiples waves of NMs. My combat skills should hit the cap after Sunday's Dynamis San d'Oria run.

While I don't think I'd have been able to single-handedly raise some hell during tonight's run, I didn't do any hindering either - I should be doing damage more consistently and on par with everyone else once I hit 75, though for being 8 levels lower, I think tonight was a perfect success.

Ennui > It's insane - I've been running some Camp. battles, and it seems like I can come close to soloing some of these mobs now with how quick my TP builds and demolishes them. (09/08/14 00:24)
Demandred > Good luck to you as you progress in level, Ennui. I've not done Dynamis yet, but it does look to be an interesting time if you pull hate as a melee. (09/08/21 19:20)
Ennui > Ty - our second run on Sunday wound up with the entire group killing each other in a bloodbath while charmed. (09/08/22 15:22)

Almost to lvl 68! I got my Starlight Medal I earlier today, so I'll be getting my Cobra harness with in the next day or so. Once I have all that set, I intend to try and borrow a weapon & knock Maat upside the head. (Any help/pointers would be nice.)

Otherwise, I think I am on The Tigress Strikes (Fort Kar. NM fight), Wrath of the Griffons, and Daughter of a Knight (have my bulb, just need a party to kill the NM now).
Sivara > Borrow? Why not buy? o_O (09/08/13 08:45)
Ennui > 1, I don't have a ton of money, and 2, I would not know what to properly spend it on. For that matter, I'd just wait until I could spend AN on the Cobra H2H weapon. (09/08/13 10:35)
Fait > Instead of Campaigning all the time, you should take part in proper XP parties. You should also BUY a new weapon at some point, you should not be going all the way to 71 on your AF weapon, much the same as you really shouldn't have gone all the way to 68 on your AF armour. (09/08/13 11:40)
Fait > I'm sure someone who plays MNK main could help better with what weapons you could and should be choosing, but here are a couple I've found with minimun effort: Tactical Magician Hooks, 50k on the AH, or 32k CP from Windy when they're in first; Feral Fangs, 20k on AH, no +stats on it but good base damage for your level. (09/08/13 11:54)
Phht > ... PLEASE don't tell me you're using mnk AF weapon, let alone at 67-68. Get your butt into TM Hooks +1/2 or Spartan Cesti (those are perfect for Maat fight, borrow a pair for it), or if you're really cheap, go beat up Shiva and get Shiva's HtH reward. But for all that is monk, stop using the AF weapon. >.< (09/08/13 16:07)
Sivara > Yay Phht! And generally, if you can't afford decent gear, stop leveling and go make money. I make 50K per week gardening (me and my mule, 10 pots each) and that has a minimal startup cost. There's also plenty of junk to farm; watch ffxiah for prices on fast-selling materials and goods. It's really not that hard to make money. (09/08/13 19:50)
Elizara > No it is not. I've been crafting my way to gil most of the time; I farm up stuff that I can make stuff out of that sells really fast. But mat farming can make almost as much; just check the AH! Also, I've made small amounts of gil from buying hiether tanks when they're under 15k and using them up and npcing all the ethers AND the empty tank. Not to mention also avatar runs..just check around Ennui! it's not hard to make gil! (09/08/14 11:21)
Elizara > I'll add; when I do the crafting for gil, I check and see if it's profit first. Not worth it to spend a hour or two farming for mats for something if it isn't worth the time (right now yellow curry buns aren't worth my time, but coeurl sammwiches are) (09/08/14 11:29)

Yay - aside from finally hitting Rank 10 after 2 years of playing, I've been getting some mad cooking skillups recently - I want to hit 40 soon.

If possible, I'd love to be running some Zilart stuff, Wrath of the Griffons, and Purple is New Black (also, any help with Gatherers of Light II would be nice....my solo attempt was a disaster).

I'm going to be spending some time cooking and soloing Sandy/Aht U. Missions as I'm able to for the next week. Thanks again for the fun everyone, and I'll see ya'll next weekend!

Thanks to Renala's help, I was able to finish off Limit Breaks 3 and 4 today without dying. I got my chocobo whistle a few days ago, and "LunarMelody" seems to be doing well.

I'm going to be away for this weekend, but I'll be around for OPs since I'm taking my PS2 to check on my chocobo and run Intel OPs - hopefully should get another promotion.

Everything is flagged and ready for 8-1 on the 11th!

Knocked out the Beadeux quests with Zoof & co. yesterday (thanks!) and have my full MNK AF set now. Until the new expansion hits in April, I don't have much to do but watch my chocobo and run Bastok Missions with the static on Saturday.

I'm still watching for a Purple, the New Black party - it seems there is no exp loss from dying during that fight, and the actual NM is weak to enfeebling spells, so I don't think there'd be too much trouble taking it out.

I'm really close to my next WotG promotion, so I should hopefully be getting that and another level very shortly here.

Wow, what a day! First of all, I'll like to thank Fait & Co. for the 7-1 run, and I'll be ready for 7-2 come next Saturday.

I was able to get Gobbiebag VIII today, and I'm a lot farther in the WotG Missions than I was earlier.

My chocobo has hatched and seems to be doing well - it has max affection for me and already knows Gallop!
================================================

First off, I have 4 quests in Beadeaux active (Smog, Curse Collector, Jag Mantle, and Temple Cyclas Coffer). If I could get some kind of assistance with those, that'd be great since I believe there is some kind of an NM fight for one of those.

Also, please let me know about any open spots for Temple of U. (RoZ) or Purple is the New Black (WotG BCNM) runs as I would very much like to progress the story ASAP.

Alrighty, Fait invited me to Rank 6 stuff, so I intend to do that. I was able to get the OP warp to the Glacier today, so I believe I have the majority of the OP Warp points now. I am hoping to spend all of March getting a ton of stuff done - I've been having internet issues that should hopefully disappear next week, so I've been spending my time looking up info on Chocobo raising.

If someone would kindly donate 30 Vomp Carrots or sell them to me or something (can't find any anywhere), I'd be very grateful.

Anyways, WotG OPs and such are going nice - I want to get me some Cobra Cap equips when my lvls is high enough, and I intend to grab my Artifact stuff I'm missing in the near future.

Having spent the entire weekend running around, I managed to get my Windurst reputation up to lvl 4....thus raising my Jeuno rep. up to lvl 6. That said, I ended up increasing my item slots from 50 to 60 this morning. I still need to do the Light in the Darkness quest for Bastok [S], and I need to get a Gold Orcmask from the Troopers in Davoi for the Deal with Tenshodo quest.

Also an important bit of info: I have my Monk AF2 quest flagged - it requires I go to Fei'Yin & zone in to it from the Qu'-something Arena, then take out an NM or two at Davoi.....obviously, it would be suicide for me to do this alone...
Nimbex > Gold Orcmask... that took me about 4 years to finally get to the point of getting done. It's frustrating because usually there's another person after the same mobs, so competition gets rough. It's not overly worth stressing over unless you're trying to clean up your quest log. Ennui > Actually, I'm doing it to raise my Jeuno reputation as that is currently one of the only quests I can do to raise it (larger item bags are nicer. :3) (08/09/22 23:25)
Nimbex > There's gotta be plenty of Windurst, Bastok, San d'Oria, Mhaura, Selbina, Rabao, and Kazham quests you can do more easily, which will also net you Jeuno fame. Just worry about getting fame up in the home cities, and you'll cap out in Jeuno without trying. (08/09/23 16:59)
Zoofster > Moss and corn and cabbage to sheep! You raise five factions at once! (Bastok, Sandy, Rabao, Selbina, and Jeuno) (08/10/07 11:40)
Ennui > ....sheep? While reputation is a big part of it, I still want everything done for completion-sake and just to see the story bits related to it. (08/10/09 03:08)
Nimbex > I definitely won't knock doing things for the sake of story! I forget exactly how bad the orcs there are, but ideally you can handle like 2-3 at a time, since they're linktastic. I had a great checklist of quests a few years ago. I should remake it and see what I can do. (08/10/09 11:16)
Shadowneko > maybe I can wack an orc or two... (08/10/10 09:15)
Zoofster > Hmmm, for completion. I never did complete the quest, and I killed a whole ton of orcs that can drop it when soloing in Davoi. That mask is so rare it's rediculous. (08/10/10 09:47)
Nimbex > Yeah, drop rate sucks. x.x (08/10/16 10:23)
Fait > I went 1/3 on the orc mask >.> Took like 30mins max out of my day xD (09/03/08 07:26)
