I fought Maat this morning all geared up - the second my testimony hit the BC, I entered into Macro-Hell. I was doing fine at the start - mostly dodging his attacks completely, but he wound up using Spin Attack a few times faster than I could heal myself.
Ultimately what killed me - I....accidentally macro'ed a Hi-Potion instead of my Elixer stuff. (=_=)
Thankfully, I only really lost 4 Sleep Pots (have a whole stack still) - I moved back over to Oztroja for another Monk Testimony & found a JP player looking for a key - partied for a bit & got more skill points, but no paper dropped. Otherwise, I'm sitting outside the door with the 4 levers waiting for backup & will probably stay here until Sandy Rank 7 tonight. Demandred > Sorry to hear the fight didn't go ask planned - good luck on your next round! (09/08/29 20:23) Demandred > Is the macro issue that happened with the 2nd testimony the same that happened the first time? (09/09/08 19:56) Ennui > Seems about right - I have the macro from the wiki page copied exactly (other things work using it), but it gave me "a command error occured". (09/09/09 10:37) Kireila > if you're using a ja macro before an equip macro, you have to put a /wait # (where # = seconds) line in between them, or else it won't work. (09/09/09 10:50) Kireila > of course, if your post were a little clearer, I'd actually know what you're trying to do, so take that as you will. (09/09/09 10:52) Ennui > ^Note that the above journal entry mentions item macros being the issue^ - the next time I give Maat a go, I'm just going to have the item menu opened since it seems I cannot be 100% sure an item macro will work without blowing thousands of gil to test it. (09/09/10 09:12) Kireila > You know you can test out item macros without consuming them; you can interrupt consuming items by moving around. or, if you're paranoid about using them by accident, test out some cheap 5 min food ingredient or something, and just replace the item with what you really want to use later on. but whatever works for you. (09/09/10 09:37) Fait > Also, if you have the item menu open, NONE of your other macros will fire. You need to be just on the basic battle menu for them to work. (09/09/10 12:50) Ennui > Oh snap - Fait, I think you might have hit the nail on the head. It is very possible I had the WS menu open to try and set up my next Howling Fist.... (09/09/11 22:42) Demandred > Ahh, that has plagued me before. Of course, I have all my WSes on macro, so that might help you to keep from having that issue again (no need to be in menus, waiting to WS). (09/09/12 11:04) Demandred > Good luck on your next testimony farming :) I got some nice skill ups last time we went. (09/09/13 00:07) Nimbex > FF12 took a hit from its Japanese writers? Did it have non-Japanese writers? (09/09/23 16:13) Ennui > I remember saying that, but I can't remember where I said it - FFXII had two JP writers as far as I know. I've played most games that both have worked on, and they were "okay" - FFXII has a lot of "political stuff" in it, and I do not think that the writers were equipped to handle it properly (the plot overall felt too forced among other things). To my surprise, the DS sequel (Revenant Wings), has actually been rather good up to where I'm at (start of Ch 2).....it has a different person doing the story though. (09/09/24 14:22) Elizara > Ennui: I've been trying and trying to catch you, but if you can come on at 8 PM EST Monday, I can intro you to a friend who might be able to help you with Maat. He is only free though at specific times (he's married and has a kid) so you have to be on when he is or no catch that tail. ^^ (09/10/12 09:09) Ennui > Ohnoes, I had tests to study for....that sucks. TY anyways Eli. ;_; (09/10/14 20:03) Elizara > He wasn't there, so he should be there next week if you can make it ennui! (09/10/15 09:33) Nimbex > It's sure complicated! I wonder what sort of help Ennui will get! (09/10/15 11:14) Elizara > Don't worry Nimbex. The friend I have in mind is NOT in CTY but is a very good monk. (He also told me he's got enough pearls so not interested in yet another.) The thing is, since guy has a kid, he has limited playtime, so you have to catch him when he's on. ^^ (09/10/16 10:50) Nimbex > Elizara: Don't worry; I'm not worried. I just don't see why you have to catch him when he's online, though. I'm clearly having a conversation with you without us catching each other. There's been 2 weeks that youv'e been trying to ararange this. With only 5 minutes a day, that would be enough time to have 14 pieces of dialogue from each person. That would do a lot toward this help. Unless it somehow requires FFXI to do this communication. (09/10/19 08:55) Elizara > Yes it does require FFXI to get him unless you have a LJ account; he helped me with a Shadowlord back in the day. He's just hard to catch! (09/10/19 12:11) Kireila > Shadowlord? Weren't we talking about Maat or something? (09/10/19 12:14)
