Another busy weekend(open)09/19 09:47(87)
Saturday is a blur of random lolpartyness in a desperate attempt to get my RDM to 37 before D-tachi static started up again. The best party I had all day was when at 4:30pm EST in an attempt to make 37 before Dynamis I gathered together Aurian and some other people LFP and headed off to fight crawlers in the tunnels before the ball room. The crawlers were a bit on the easy side, but most everyone made a level, which is just as well since I started to hear "I can only stay for 40 mins" about 20 minutes into the session.

Dynamis Sandoria was an exercise in aggravation. And death. And making myself look inconspicuous against the wall. But we did clear it. :)

Sunday was skill up lolstaff day! Sylf, Beanie, Nif and I descended on Booyah tree to level up our club skill. We were later joined by Aurian (and her critacular trick staff), Nyiri, Chipoka and Makoholic.

We whacked on a napping crab for 0 dmg for over 5hours -- and we didn't even notice the time passing. O.o Yay for chatting. :3

Lots of people got spirit taker and I capped my club skill (where's mah skillups, Crab?!).

I love that staff :E These days I farm with my primate staff because pamamas are so damn cheap, my average spirit taker fills up my mediocre MP pool from 0-100%, and Full Swing damage is more consistent than Vorpal. I can hardly wait for Retribution with its 2x multiplier at 100% (Full Swing & Spirit Taker are 1x @100%). (09/20 12:10)

So last night after getting 3/4 of the way on my hauby, I called up my sister, Miala, and told her how excited I was. She paused on the shell then and said, "Technically, I still owe you the start-up capital you gave me for my grow-op."

"No, that's okay -- Grow-op?!"

She ignored me and carried on, "And I'm sure you still haven't asked for the money you lent to Chiisana and Teedidi either, silly kitten."

"What's this about a grow-op? You said you wanted to become a monk and show up all those stuffy Elvaan. Mom's gonna kill me!"

"It's so cute; you're this great adventurer and you're still too shy to ask for your money. Don't worry, honey, I'll call them up."

"Click" She had taken off the linkshell.

The next morning I checked my delivery box and found almost a million gil and another five hundred thousand from Chipoka. Was my dear taru one of her pushers, I wondered.

I finally managed to get hold of her on the shell and said "Thank you, Mimi, but please tell me you're not growing drugs."

"Drugs? Who said anything about drugs? Well, I suppose the fishermen here are addicted to millioncorn, but that's taking the definition a bit too far."

"You're growing millioncorn?"

"Uhuh."

"Oh."

"But why is there money from Chipo?" I asked, bewildered.

"Ahahaha. I called up Kiala to see if she had any loose change and Mr. Chipoka was there. You know, he really likes you. When's the engagement happening?"

"Uh, gotta go and spend this money! A hauby just showed up. Bye!"

A few thoughts for future Ouryu smashers.

The trip through Riverne B takes about 20 minutes and only requires 1 giant scale. Both sneak and invisible are required to avoid the Wyverns and Morbols. Unlike Riverne A, the last two islands are not populated by true sight hippogryffs, so you might find it easier to go this route (this fight takes place in Monarch Linn as well). However, there is one section of the main island that is filled with Morbol and hippogryffs.

Ouryu hits like a bloody truck. >.< I used all 20 Hi-Potions because it was very difficult to time cures and I eventually died because I ran out of potions. For surviving Geotic breath I took the advice of one of the threads I had read and camped Ouryu's left leg. Apparently Geotic Breath does its maximum damage if you are directly in front of his mouth. Standing off to the side (by his leg) seems to be a good spot. I took a lot of extra damage due to Ouryu having a permanent non-dispellable Enstone effect like Titan Prime. Keep Barstonra up!

The curaga earring, while it seemed like a good idea in theory, took far too long to activate to be feasible to use in combat time.

I would say this was my most frightening BCNM so far, just because of the rate at which I took damage. I was not expecting him to hit so hard or so fast.

Meet in the Tavnazian safehold at 9pm EST *Monday* 25 July for scale/feather hunting. We will be going to the level 50 area, so bring appropriate equipment.

We already have one scale, but we still need to get a few more feathers for mistmelts.

Also, this is kind of a pretext to learn Double Thrust -> Slice = Distortion Freeze burst timing for Chipo who has not partied with Thistle before. Also, Chipoka subs RDM which means he casts faster than Draque, so Draque's timing cannot be used as a guide.

Edit: To clear up confusion, bring the job/subjob that you will be bringing on Wednesday.
Draque > It might be best to let me start, and the others follow. Since we already know what my timing is, that gives us a frame work of sorts to work around. :) I start, five counts later the ws starts. Give or take MB goes off. Onion > (posting here so you'll actually see it) Keep in mind that the original Ouryu strategy we used was actually written for two BLMs and a RDM, so it's very doable with two BLMs. :) It took us 7 or 8 Freezes to win (not sure if my last one hit), one was resisted but supposedly that's fairly normal. Also, a /15 RDM will cast at the same speed as a /25 RDM. So IMO it's still a very viable option. Your strategy sounds good too though, and it lets the whole group play a part. Our RNG just kind of stood there while Dioz voked frantically trying to get it off us. ;) (07/21 17:58)

On Friday, despite coming down with a fever, I managed to head out to East Altepa and level my BLM with the the static formerly known as Thistle-brigade. I managed to get BLM 32.

On Saturday, staticfoo was cancelled because Aurian's cable and power company hates her, so I rested up until Dynamis-Bastok. One of the first AF2 drops was a Valor coronet and the 2 other PLD-AF hunting people *let* me have it. Literally, "Aww, I'm not lotting against her!" @_@ Wow. (Another one dropped later, so he did also get it after all :3 ) I got called to sacrifice pull again, and thanks to Chipo's watchful eye managed not to die in an un-reraiseable place. It's just a pity we didn't get to the Megaboss.

On Sunday Chipo and I headed to Booyah to skill up with the lolstaff + Sleep a Steelshell method. We were there for nearly the entire day, although less than 6 hours total (many nap/dinner/Harry Potter etc breaks). Beanie, Nif and Anko joined us in the evening, but Anko's lolspear wasn't so lol and she had to leave when her polearm skill hit 65 because she kept waking it up on crits. I managed to go from 238 - 252, Chipo got Spirit Taker and Beanie got Full Swing. :3

Some bittersweet experiences this weekend. We did Dynamis Sand'Oria this Saturday. In preparation for massive death I had bought a reraise gorget as well as a noble's bed. Anything to reduce the experience loss that I know was headed straight for me.

I used up 5 charges on the gorget, 2 of which were dispelled (stupid hecteyes). There are 5 more charges left for next weekend. This could get expensive quickly.

This dynamis seemed a bit less organized than the last one, possibly because we had an idiot RDM who was diaing the mobs which should have been slept. Ironically, we beat the first charmga NM only because of a DoT spell (don't know who cast it). He was eventually warped out of the zone. The conspiracy theorist in me screams saboteur, because just as we entered Dynamis he asked to go AFK 8 minutes to "pay for food" and then stayed away for over 30 minutes. Still, one should not attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. ;3

Also, there were a lot more huge horde type pulls. Like OMFG type hordes, with 2 or 3 monsters being slept by a single rdm.

I also got to sacrifice pull/trigger the megaboss. It's kind of fun. And it gives a warm glow of pride to hear "NO LINKS! It's a clean pull". But I was hoping the bed would help more than 5%. ;3

The pull itself was kind of stressful, since we were running out of time and only had 10 minutes or so left in Dynamis and there were many people who needed to get the key-item for Sand'Oria. After I died, they told me not to HP, I guess because of the repops. But after killing the megaboss we were down to about 3 minutes and the LS leader was down without a raise. I really wanted the key-item so I HP'ed. "Fortunately", I didn't have to deal with the repops at the entrance because one of the red mages hadn't realised that you don't see the repops still you walk over them and trained them allll away. X3 The red mage asked afterwards if her little training incident had actually helped anyone get the key-item and seemed pleased to hear that it had helped me. :3

The best bit was probably when the LS leader (paladin) offered me a spot in their main HNMLS. I declined, since I lack the time and I love my shell, but the acknowledgement is nice. Especially, for a class that doesn't party with others of the same class much. :3

Sunday was a lot quieter. I spent the afternoon working off my staff latent with another Paladin, Yvonne, and Chipoka in Kuftal. My latent is cleared and I'm ready for a trip to Ifrit's Cauldron with Draque when he's done.

I then headed off to Boyahda with Chipo to try and raise my staff skill a bit closer to exp party levels and ran into Yvonne again. Unfortunately Chip died ... twice ... and had to eat two Raise I's. :( At least he got Full Swing at the end of it all.
