I've been oogling the magian swords of late and some of them are pretty good for blu. My plan currently is to get a whole bunch of soulsabers, specifically:
the fire STR/atk one
the ltng DEX/acc one
and the earth Def down sword

I'm also planning on getting the occasionally attacks twice sword done up to where it requires farming VNMs for when the level cap rises and makes them easier.

After at least 2 years of sitting at 64 Smithing, I've finally gotten back into leveling my crafting skills. Tonight I managed to finally get the level of 68 and be able to purchase my smithing apron, thus using the 100k guild points that have been sitting around since the dawn of time it seems.

At aproximately 1:55AM EST< whils in the mid of xping with CTY folks, a loud pop was heard eminating from my pc, as it shut itself off. The powersupply has gone and shorted out and I will be offline for an indefinate period of time.

Wow.... Bard Cannions dropped in Xarc and I managed to snag em, leaving myself with a full set of Bard AF2 :D (Interstingly, all peices but the pants are "Bard's" slippers, ect. while the pants are merely "Bard" cannions. huh.)

Anyways, the stats are particularly neat on the pants. They have a large boost to MP (which I need as elvaan) and the effect of "Courtly Measure".
This is a effect where the bard recieves +8 to CHR, MND, and INT and -7 to STR, VIT, AGI, and DEX, but only when the bard does not have their weapon drawn. Since 99.95% of the time in a situation where those stats would be needed, a bard isn't in melee combat anyways, its pretty much always active.

After some nice xping in halvung behind the gates vs VT/IT trolls, I finally dinged 74 and put on the Melee Cyclas I've had for a while now. ^^b Looks rather dashing I think. And the regen effect is nice too. Only problem is sanction lasts too short ; ;
Zantetsuken > congrats on 74 :). As for sanction, I think the best bet if possible is to try to find a camp in Caedevra Mire. Apparently there's a spot or two where you can just punch a lot of imps. that way the pt could go back and get Sanction once it wore rather than be stuck in the middle of a rock and a hard place. granted that's not always an option, but food for thought ^^ (05/06 12:50)

So silly me.... I didn't check the TAU disc format. Its on a DVD, and all I have installed on my PC is a CD-RW drive. Luckily, I had a DVD-ROM drive laying around though. So before software installs I had to do hardware installs >.< Now to wait through the massive update.

Been a while since last post, so here's some cool stuff that's happened.

The satchet I had to wake up early for due to RSE times but its well worth it. For Elvaan M, it yeilds STR+2 in the ammo slot. Nothing else comes even close to being as good for monk, and I'd been trying off and on for it since it was released. A nice step up from an HP+1% easter egg ^^b
Zantetsuken > *nods nods* for just about any elvaan melee this is one of your best bets. Sams are lucky that they can use Lightning Bows, but for monks that's your best bet for sure, congrats :). What was your stats on killing the aroma NM btw? I went 1/2, but I've heard people go 1/30+ and stupid stuff like that (04/19 07:19)

Shadowbane did Dynamis-Glacier tonight with another shell (I'm pretty sure it was DeathWishes) in an attemt to get their leader an attestation. Went uber awesome, though I did die twice, once cause I was dumb (which has been happening alot to me lately >.<). There were 6 AF2s drop which is a boat load for any outlands run. The first to drop was the Melee Cyclas, which I had thankfully decided to call lotting on over a meh bard piece. Lotted 962 ftw. Yay!

Other congratulations go to Merlee for WHM and to Sivara for WAR. Yay!

After the escapades with cockatrices, I went and fought Kirin with Ryu and company. At one point in the fight, I figured I might toss this out... and !!!

To put this in perspective: Kirin is listed as a lvl 92 mob, based on earth. Bards have a "C" rating in skills related to barding (go figure). I have only one merit up in Wind skill, the appropriate one for elegy.

Thusly, landing elegy on kirin, is like say... a level 60 whm successfully sleeping a spartoi sorcerer in the hardest parts of King Ranperre's Tomb. Statistically possible, just not supposed to happen. But I did it and I have proof!

So a while back I posted about running across this NM in meriphataud Mountains.... I was a 72 bard at the time, and got utterly destroyed by said Waraxe Beak.

Thinking I've been getting alot stronger lately and with really uber gear... I went to take another crack at him. Results were favorable, with most of his magely attacks being resisted or if the landed, heavily weakened. Breakga lasted at most 10 sec, and Stonega IV did at worst 410 dmg, usually 200 dmg.

Alas, there were no armor drops(not that they're useful or anything anyways).
I was also proclaimed utterly insane by Chesh. ^^b yay!

However, to be honest, Waraxe was not as epic as I had hoped. The gargoyles in Pso'xia were about 3x harder. To quench my thirst I went to try to solo the Yagudo High Preist, but I couldn't reach him as there was no one there hunting keys to help me get to the trap door.

I decided to finally go off and get some of the more annoying maps that I was pretty sure I could solo. Starting off with the Den of Rancor coffer map. Running in to where the coffer mobs are, you have to run through temple ug. Onmy way, I was snooping in doors and got agroed by a NM. Sozu Terberry - SMN type, can drop light pact and also astral flows as 2hr. Killed it fairly easily, no drop :(

So, on to the coffer mobs.

While EP-DC tri-bats can absorb alot of damage, they went down slowly and surely, eventually yeilding a coffer key after about 10 kills. The coffer in DoR can annoyingly be either behind the ug temple gaurdian or in the xp area of yhoator jungle. Wasn't up behind the gaurdian where I was farming the key, then wasn't up in xp area. So I go back towards the gaurdian, found he was dead and door open, I made way in quickly, and found the coffer. DoR map.

Next, tonight I went off to solo myself a Pso'Xja map. Now this was a real adventure! The chest key was a cake drop of 5th kill, and by far the least interesting part of the quest. Finding the chest was the fun/hard part. Those of you who have ventured into this tower know that there are treasure chest mimics lying about as well as impassible colored doors. These doors can only be opened by obtaining a key item that comes from defeating 2 NM gargoyles(dolls) per colored bracelet, 2 for blue and 2 for green. These dolls cannot be slept(so right away a problem for bard) and swap between physical and 50% magical resistance, approximately every 30 sec. They hit fairly hard, fairly quickly(elegy immune as well) and can double attack.

So.... there's one chest spawn point that doesn't require passage beyond the colored doors, but of course, its not there. Thus I try to solo the NM dolls.
And I succeed, Booyah! After searching the first door's access, the chest isn't up there either, so its certainly behind the other door, requiring a second go at NM killing. These ones don't double attack, but they spam shock spikes and silence. While annoying, alot easier overall than the first pair. Thankfully, I still had echo drops from dynamis in inventory, so when silence did stick, I could remove it :)

Chest popped, map got. I know possess all maps from original release, and zilart expansion. The only remaining maps I need are from level capped areas and from sea.

Also: I'd like to note that the Sha'ir Manteel is a surprisingly good bard solo body peice. It's got good def(for bard gear), a bit of haste, and fast cast, all good stuff for solo bards!

I was camping in SSG just now waiting for a NM to pop that drops Siren's hair.
I need 2 of these items for zenith slacks. Worr the Clawfisted can drop the hair as well as Pagures, a rare/ex lvl 60 h2h weapon. So I figureed I'd camp him.

I got up and killed placeholders thismorning, and hopped in the shower between spawns. When I return to my computer, he's up and unclaimed beside me, so I nab him unprepped; no protect/shell/paeons up. The down side of this fight is that Worr is a lvl 60ish monk, so lots of HP and lots of countering, plus hundred fists 2hr.

I get my paeons up pull out my earth staff, and elegy him, and realize, I"m holding ground pretty well vs his regular attacks. Only his high damage knockback special move was a problem to this point. As a NM he can't be slept, so I figured I might as well requiem him.

Real fun came when Worr 2hred. I countered with my 2hr with paeons elegy and requiem. I survived the onslaught after losing ~700HP. However SV paeons and a DS cure III quickly recovered from that.

About 20 minutes into the fight, I realized I was almost out of MP and forgot my only piece of refresh gear, my gaudy harness. I could ballad, but I needed the dual paeons to not die, so I had to ride it out.

Finally, after a ~35 minute fight, Worr goes down, with me at 300/1227 HP.
The drops: 34 exp, 4800 gil, and a cobalt jelleyfish.

The numbers: HP regened over 35 minutes using dual SV Paeons ~12,000HP
HP recovered healing with Divine seals ~1,300 HP
DMG dealt via requiem ~5,000DMG

All in all, a whole heap of fun. I just wish I had gotten more goodies from it >.<
