| Let's see, on Monday the pirate crew had volunteered to help Tharp and Treasa with the rest of the Ark Angels under Cyd's leadership. Elvaan was the first target and I sat out of that fight. It sounded exciting from the other side of the alliance o.o And mostly just assuring that there was still time left. Elvaan is a long fight no matter how you slice it, but they got it done o.ob
Next up was Galka, which I was tanking on NIN/DRK. My ideas were good, but I'd forgotten about one thing that turned out to be important: SAMs have Zanshin. Usually that's not a big deal for a blink tank unless it happens to be a high level boss whose Zanshin happens to activate like Double Attack -.- Galka was chewing through my shadows like a mofo, but I was keeping up and at least blinking the important part (Meikyo Shisui). I'd stopped two or three Meikyo Shisui before my my luck ran out when Galka had about 40% health left. I blinked Yukikaze, but Gekko got through for 650dmg and Silenced me and before I could pop an Echo Drop Kasha downed me with another 650dmg. He didn't even get the Fusion for the chain. He didn't need it. Those two skills alone killed me. On the plus side, Treasa, Cyd, and Tharp were just about ready to unload on him when I went down and they finished him off in like 5 seconds >.>; I don't think he hit Treasa more than once of twice after I died. Congrats on getting through the Ark Angels, guys :3b Only the big fight left!
On Tuesday Howitzer went to Dynamis - Bubu :D! The ??? was in my spot to check when unlocking subjobs >.>b We defeated Apocalyptic Beast and Nif got clearance. I was sure he had Bubu already, but I was obviously mistaken. I'm pretty sure he has Valk and Qufim already >.> I should ask him again... Anyhow, for farming we did Crabs first. They were very squishy and coughed up a Wyrm Belt for Cyd :D We skipped the usual Bunnies, Cockatrices, and Dhalmels to go straight to Ravens next. That was a little exciting since Ravens always seem to pull in clusters of "everything" >.>; Ravens force me to pull out all the stops for Racc on RNG, which makes me feel a bit sheepish at this point since RNG has so much Racc going for it + food :x Oh well. The birds dropped two RNG belts that Dash and Tal got, so I'll forgive the flappies for their evasion. We beelined for Urgandites after that and had plenty of time, so we cleared out nearly all of them. We got one PLD cape that went to Northy. Congrats :D! We also got THF, PLD, and SAM -1 hands :3
On Wednesday Nif and I started working on WotG missions. Usually we'd be all over new WotG stuff (and get it done in the first week of the patch), but this time there was just such a feeling of "I don't give a Cait Sith's ass" about the entire update :/ Seriously, SE, people are supposed to be excited about these things, not just doing them because they feel some guilty compulsion due to having completed all the other content already. Needless to say, we weren't really excited about it, but I wanted to get the mini-games done before the group did them. The main reason for that, as horrible as it may sound, is that if things went poorly I knew I'd be so angry that my attitude might ruin it for everyone else ._. I didn't want to do that, but I could see it happening if something ate me, so... Nif and I went to Glacier_S to poke at the mini-games.
Wiki has some good information on how to do the games now. That was helpful, but it was still nerve-wrecking the entire time we were out there. Nif went on WHM and I went on BLM so I could Retrace us if we had to start one of the games over. We did Retrace once because I'd gotten lost and lead us totally the wrong way to one of the towers and starting over from the outpost was safest (we'd had to dodge a lot of Taurus to get to the wrong spot >.>; ) But we got the mini-games done with only one death. Around Nue's tower an Imp spotted Nif and hit him, then those little sperm things finished him off. How aggravating, but he'd gotten to a safe spot and was able to Reraise and get to the tower to play the mini-game.
I'm glad to have that done, but I'm not looking forward to the content that's upcoming. The signature collection quest looks like all the bullshit time-consuming crap they've pulled with ACP and Kupo rolled into one quest -.- Though it does explain why I've seen so many 75s killing the River Crabs around Knightswell when Moat fishing.
And that reminds me (and on a much happier note), I passed 5000 Moats turned in this last weekend. I'm over the hump! It's downhill from here! Go, Bean, Go! I've tried a little fishing in Windy when I'm near fatigue or just trying to use up the rest of the Paste in my bag. It's not horrible, but it's not good either. I lose about three pieces of Paste out of every stack, usually to Gold Carp. I'd prolly be fine with that if I could actually gain skill ups from Gold Carp, but I'm over their level >.o So the only nice thing I can say about them is that they NPC for 306g each and help pay for my Millioncorn (but I'd rather have Moats just to get this over with faster >.>; )
Anyhow! Back to Wednesday. After Nif went to bed, Dash poked me to ask if I'd be willing to help with some more missions. His friend needed ZM4 done. Oh sure, no probs. I cleared my Tonberry hate and I know Dash and his friend did too. Someone who should've cleared hate didn't, though >.>a 'Cause almost immediately after the fight started the MNK got Grudged for over 6k damage and fell over dead. Fortunately ZM4 is so blasted easy with a party of 75s and a sleeper that we just marched right through it and that was that.
The other folks helping left at that point and I told Dash I'd be willing to help with the headstone NMs sometime if he needed. How about right now? Oh, okay. The three of us went out to Ifrit's. Ash Dragon says hi. And did you know there's a FoV manual in that little valley that you can't reach except through Ifrit's? I didn't. Who would put a manual there? Better yet, who the hell would use it? I can think of at least 5 other places (in the Jungles no less!) where a manual would get more use. Can I get a show of hands for one being placed outside of SSG? That's an awesome XP camp. It's nearly the same mobs as the hidden valley camp only without dodging Ash Dragon along the way...
Next we went to Teriggan to visit a Shade. And I taught Dash a trick that made him WTF D: at me. Northy does it with me all the time in Nyzul. If I start with 300TP I can Sekkanoki and only use 100TP of that (but not get the bonus damage from Hagun) and maybe SC with Northy. Then immediately give Northy another 100TP with Shikikoyo and do it again. It's a great way to come out of the box with two Tier 3 SC and really slam it into a monster's face. Well, on the Shade Dash wouldn't use his TP fast enough >.> He wanted to Flash and do PLDy stuff, but after he got a TP dump from me to use Atonement again he got the idea :o The Shade went down fast >.>b
Third stop was Zi'tah to do the Doomed. It has 17,000hp. Dash was worried that it might take us a while to kill it, but nah, not with a PLD, SAM, and SMN. This time we did the TP thing right off the bat and took a mighty big chunk of HP off of it in the first few moments of the fight. After that we bounced it back and forth between Dash and me as our shadows needed recasting (we both went as /NIN), but it didn't take long to kill at all. I called it a night after that one since the two Weapons in Behemoth's Dominion are weaksauce and it was midnight my time x.x I needed to go to bed.
On Thursday I logged in and started fishing. Jeni woke up soon afterwards and poked me. Hrm, it was mid-afternoon. No one was in SSG. And I had a good feeling. I asked him if he wanted to go down and try camping Charby again. He said sure and so we went. As we camped Nif and Yosa logged in and decided to come join us. It was blissfully quiet with no one there to camp against us. About three and a half hours in Charby popped :o Woo~ It was a lot feistier than the previous two Charby's we've killed. It reminded me of the one that was Ren's Charby (very Cross Attack happy). It was tearing into my shadows quite a bit and I was taking hits, which was making Nif gleeful for some reason >.>; I figured out why at the end when Nif stole the killshot with a nearly 800dmg Holy. I'd shake my fist at you, Taru, if it weren't for the fact that I'm now afraid of your Holy o.o; Thank you Nif, Jeni, and Yosa for helping me get a Joytoy \o/ Yay! No more Charby camping!
We finished up with Charby early enough that Nif and I still had time to run around and collect weekly XP scrolls. I won this week's chocorace and my scrolls got me to COR23. I'd say it's been a good week so far, eh? :o |
Guppy > When the WoTG quest signature collections first went up on Wiki, there was a couple of sub-optimal answers that would lock you out of the top reward. On the plus side, going for the rank-2 reward from it shaves off a *lot* of time, if you're willing to settle for an O. Ingot instead. (09/10/11 13:08) Beanie > I've been looking over that. I got my bag long ago (and it was worth every gil), so it's just a matter of how much effort do I want to put into making some of the gil back. (09/10/11 15:21)
